Smoky, savory and full of Texas flavor, these Bacon Cheeseburgers made with Kountry Boys Thick-Cut Bacon are a backyard classic done right.

Difficulty: Easy

Prep: 15 minutes

Cook: 15 minutes

Total: 30 minutes

Serves: 6

Ingredients

3–4 slices of Kountry Boys Thick-Cut Bacon

2 lb. ground beef

6 slices mild cheddar cheese

1 package Kountry Boys hamburger buns

6 tablespoons butter

2 large tomatoes, sliced

1 white onion, thinly sliced

1 head butter lettuce, leaves separated

Pickles, jalapenos and condiments, to taste

Method

Preheat grill to 400°F.

While grill is heating, melt butter in a small saucepan. Brush the insides of each bun with melted butter. Reserve buns.

Divide beef into six portions and form into patties, taking care not to over-handle the meat. Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.

Grill patties for 4 to 7 minutes per side, to a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees. Place cheese slices on top of each patty during the last two minutes of cooking. Reserve patties on a serving platter.

While the burgers rest, cook Kountry Boys Thick-Sliced Original Bacon until crisp. Set on paper towels to drain.

Grill buns, butter-side down, over the coolest portion of the grill, until buns are slightly browned and crispy at the edges.

Place the bottom half of each toasted bun on a clean surface or platter. Layer with lettuce, followed by a grilled patty and melted cheese.

Add tomato slices, onion, bacon and your choice of pickles or jalapeños.

Spread condiments on the top bun, ketchup, mustard, mayo or whatever you like, then top each burger and press gently to hold everything together.

Description

There’s something about a backyard burger that just can’t be beat. Maybe it’s the smoky scent drifting off the grill, the sizzle of beef hitting hot grates, or that first bite when melted cheese meets crisp bacon and a buttery bun. However you slice it, a good cheeseburger has a way of bringing folks together — and when it’s made the Kountry Boys way, it’s pure Texas comfort.

These Bacon Cheeseburgers start simple but hit hard on flavor. Thick, juicy patties grilled to perfection. Buttery buns toasted just right. A few slices of Kountry Boys Original Bacon cooked to crispy, golden goodness. It’s a combination that never goes out of style and always leaves folks asking for seconds. Whether it’s a summer barbeque, Friday night dinner or game day spread, this recipe has you covered.

Firin’ Up the Flavor

Every great burger starts with the basics — good beef, a hot grill and a little patience. You’ll want to preheat your grill to around 400°F, hot enough to give the patties a nice crust without drying them out. While the grill’s getting ready, melt some butter in a saucepan and brush it on the inside of each bun. That buttery layer gives you those perfectly toasted edges that stay crisp even when loaded up with all the juicy toppings.

Next up, the star of the show — the bacon. Cook Kountry Boys Original Bacon until it’s just the right mix of crispy and chewy. That’s the sweet spot where it stays flavorful and meaty, not brittle. You can make it right on the grill beside your burgers or on a cast iron skillet for a little more control. Once the bacon’s done, set it aside on a paper towel to cool — if you can resist sneaking a piece.

Form your ground beef into six even patties, being careful not to overwork the meat. That’s the secret to keeping burgers tender instead of tough. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper, then toss them on the grill. Listen for that sizzle — that’s when you know you’re doing it right.

Grill each side for four to seven minutes, depending on how thick your patties are. When you’re about two minutes away from done, top each one with a slice of cheddar cheese. Let it melt slowly over the patty until it drapes down the sides like a warm blanket.

Buildin’ the Perfect Bite

When the burgers are done, take them off the heat and give them a few minutes to rest. It might be tough to wait, but that little pause helps the juices settle back into the meat instead of spilling out onto the plate.

Now it’s time for the fun part — the build. Toast your buns, butter-side down, on the coolest part of the grill until golden. Start your stack with a crisp leaf of butter lettuce, then layer on a juicy burger patty. Add two or three slices of Kountry Boys Original Bacon, then finish it off with tomato, onion, pickles and maybe a few jalapeños if you’re feeling bold.

The beauty of a burger like this is how easy it is to make your own. Love heat? Add spicy mustard or a drizzle of hot sauce. Prefer a little sweetness? Brush your bacon with barbeque sauce right before serving. However you build it, these burgers are built for Texas flavor — smoky, savory and meant to be shared.

Here’s a quick pro tip: If you’re cooking for a crowd, keep the finished burgers warm on the upper grill rack or wrapped in foil. That way, the cheese stays melted, the bacon stays crisp and no one gets a cold patty.

A Texas Classic, Every Time

Burgers might be simple, but the best ones never get old. They’re made for gathering — for lazy afternoons with friends, quick weeknight dinners or Sunday cookouts that stretch past sunset. And when you throw in a few slices of Kountry Boys Original Bacon, you take that familiar flavor up a notch.

There’s something about that blend of smoky bacon, buttery bread and beefy goodness that feels like home. It’s the kind of meal that doesn’t need much fuss — just good ingredients and a little time by the fire.

So next time you fire up the grill, skip the takeout and make it a Kountry Boys night.
