INGREDIENTS

16 oz Kountry Boys Original Pan Sausage

1/2 cup finely minced onion

1 garlic clove, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

2 flour tortillas (10-inch)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Cooking spray

Ranch, for dipping

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees.

In a large bowl, combine the sausage, onion, garlic, oregano, thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper.

Divide the sausage mixture evenly between the tortillas; spread in a thin, even layer to the edge of each tortilla.

Roll each tortilla tightly into a log. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill at least 20 minutes.

Remove the plastic wrap. Slice each log into 1.5-inch pinwheels.

Coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the pinwheels in a single layer and cook 10 minutes, or until the sausage reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sprinkle mozzarella over each pinwheel. Cook an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Serve hot with ranch for dipping.

Recipe Note: for food safety, confirm the sausage reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit before serving. Use an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of a pinwheel to check.

Description

Football Saturdays and Sunday tailgates call for food that travels well, disappears fast and doesn’t chain the cook to the kitchen. These Pan Sausage Tortilla Roll-Ups check every box. Built on Kountry Boys Original Pan Sausage and rolled up with mozzarella, they come out of the air fryer golden, cheesy and ready to dip in ranch in under an hour, prep and chill time included.

This recipe is a spin on the classic tortilla pinwheel, but swapping in seasoned pan sausage instead of a cold cream cheese filling turns it into a hot, hearty appetizer built for game day instead of a lunchbox. The sausage is seasoned simply, with oregano, thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper, so the flavor of the Kountry Boys sausage stays front and center instead of getting buried under a long spice list.

Why Pan Sausage Tortilla Roll-Ups Work for a Crowd

A game day appetizer only earns a spot on the table if it holds up to a crowd, and this one does. The filling comes together in one bowl, the tortillas roll and chill ahead of time, and the air fryer does the rest in fifteen minutes flat. That means the sausage pinwheels can be prepped hours before kickoff and cooked in batches as guests arrive, instead of forcing the host to choose between watching the game and standing over a stove.

Finely mincing the onion instead of leaving it coarsely chopped matters here. Because the filling gets a short, hot cook in the air fryer rather than a long simmer, a fine mince is what lets the onion soften fully instead of staying crunchy in the finished roll-up.

An Air Fryer Appetizer With Real Tailgate Range

The air fryer is the method built out step by step in this recipe, and for good reason. It gets the outside of each pinwheel crisp while the cheese melts and bubbles, all without heating up a full oven or standing at a grill. For a tailgate spread, it also means these can cook in small batches on a countertop unit, which is a real advantage when kitchen space or oven time is already spoken for by the rest of the menu.

Slicing the chilled log into 1.5-inch pinwheels before cooking is what gives these their signature spiral look, with the seasoned sausage and melted mozzarella visible in cross-section. That same slice size is what keeps a batch of a dozen roll-ups landing at six generous servings, two pinwheels per person, without anyone walking away hungry.

Serving Pan Sausage Tortilla Roll-Ups

Ranch is the classic dip for a reason, and a batch of homemade ranch takes these from good to gone. Serve the roll-ups warm, straight out of the air fryer, arranged on a platter with a small bowl of ranch in the center for dipping. They pair naturally with other handheld appetizers on a game day table, including a bowl of Fried Pickle Dip with Bacon for guests who want to keep grazing between bites.

Whether the occasion is a football watch party, a potluck or just a Friday night craving something cheesy and hot, these Pan Sausage Tortilla Roll-Ups deliver bold, smoky sausage flavor in a bite-sized, crowd-ready package.
